Public Programs Spring and Summer 08Canoe Lookout Creek Dates: Saturdays- July 19, August 30, September 27 Cool off with a relaxing float down Lookout Creek guided a CNC naturalist. This is a great opportunity to view native wildlife in a natural setting. Wear clothing and shoes appropriate for canoeing. This program is very popular and space is limited. Pre-registration and prepayment are required. Call 821-1160 ext. 0 for reservations. This program is recommended for adults, families with children ages 8 and up. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Snakes in Your Backyard Date: Sunday, July 6 Meet the snakes that live right in your backyard! Get to know our reptile ambassadors here at CNC. Snakeskins, reptile eggs, and other artifacts will be available for viewing. Bat Watch Date: Friday, July 25 Meet at CNC for an informative Power Point presentation about bats. We will then car caravan to the Nickajack Cave, home to more than 60,000 endangered gray bats. There is a short walk to the viewing platform. As the sun sets, the tiny gray bats wing their way out of the cave to feed on insects. Bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes. This is a very popular program and space is limited. Pre-registration and prepayment are required. Call 821-1160 ext. 0 to register. Family Mud Day Date: Saturday, August 9 See what fun the summer campers rave about every year! Celebrate the joys of just getting dirty! Make a dirt pie or fashion your own muddy hairdo! We will have a kiddie mud pool for the little mudslingers. Participants should wear very old clothes and shoes. We will clean up on the soapy slip and slide and cool down with Popsicle treats. Bring a towel for clean-up and clean clothes for the ride home.
