Paddler’s Perch Packing List

  • This camping experience is primitive camping. You will need to bring all supplies for an overnight campout.
  • Electricity is not available.
  • Water is only available at the Visitor’s Center building on the far right, at the faucet labeled “drinking water.” All other outdoor faucets contain well water which is not safe for drinking.

Items to bring:

  • Water bottles or jugs to carry water
  • Food
  • Eating utensils and dishes (paper will be easier)
  • Paper towels
  • Sleeping bags and pads
  • Flashlights, headlamp, or battery operated lantern
  • Bug spray and sunblock
  • Rain gear, jacket
  • Garbage bags
  • Hand sanitizer

Meal Planning

  • Cooking is allowed, but it will be much easier to bring ready-to-eat food for ease of cleanup. Because there is no clean water source at the Perch, washing dishes and cookware will be difficult.
  • If you decide to wash dishes, please do not throw dishwater into the creek or anywhere near the Perch. Go to the left from the Perch boardwalk, away from the treehouse, and throw dirty water over the side into the vegetation.
  • Do not throw food scraps anywhere on the property—please carry them out with your garbage. Human food can be dangerous for wildlife and will also encourage their dependence on human food sources.

Things to know

  • Keys: All guests renting the Perch will need to pick up a Perch key during CNC business hours. If you arrive after business hours, staff will not be available to open the Perch.
  • Parking: The CNC gate is locked at 5:00 pm each day. Guests will need to park outside the gate in the member’s parking lot. Carts are available to carry gear down to the Perch.
  • Reserving CNC canoes: Arrangements must be made before arrival. Any guest wanting to use our canoes must have already viewed the orientation video and signed the liability waiver. Canoe keys and Perch keys can be picked up at the same time. Plan ahead!
  • Member Use of Property: Be aware that CNC members will be using the dock to launch canoes during operating hours. Members also have access to the property before and after operating hours. Post your “occupied” sign on gate at the foot of the stairs to protect your privacy.
