CNC Animal Ambassadors - Red Tailed Hawk

Our Male Red Tailed Hawk came from CNC rehab in 1995 as an adult with a broken wing, most likely from being hit by a car. The improper healing of the wing deemed him non-releasable. He lives with the female Red-tailed hawk, and enjoys sunning on his perch in the mornings. He has brilliant tail feather coloration and is an excellent display bird. He eats 1 medium rat 6 days a week.

Our female Red Tailed Hawk came from CNC rehab prior to 1991 as an adult with a broken right wing from being hit by a vehicle. The broken wing never healed properly, and eventually had to be completely amputated. Despite having one good wing, she is the dominant bird of her enclosure. She is much larger than the male, and truly “rules the roost”. She eats 1 medium rat 6 days per week. She is always eager to work with her handlers, and join them for a walk to her perch or to a classroom full of children.
